“It is this inner equilibrium that must be maintained at all costs so that the person will stand ever in immediate candidacy for the direct visitation of God.  All the negative things are present in the discipline, yes, this cannot be denied; the highly abnormal aberrations of mind are present, oftentimes, to be sure.  But there is something more, there is strength, power released in the life of humankind, a kind of concomitant overflowing of creative energies which demand that he or she be true themselves by the highest.”

“O taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are those who take refuge in God.”

~Psalm 34:8

1.  Repeat Psalm 34 no less than 3 times throughout the day.  Consider what it means to ‘taste and see’ the goodness of God.  Also read Romans 8:1-17.  How does God’s good nature help to balance our sinful nature?

2.  Give no less than 30 minutes in prayer or meditation today.  Be aware of your flesh, your breathing – be fully aware of your humanness during this meditation.  Spend more time listening as your ‘very thoughts are under the scrutiny of God.”

3.  Journal any new insights that come to mind.

Today’s question:

Do you have the “inner equilibrium” or balance, or stability which Thurman says is necessary for “the direct visitation of God?”
